Album · 2005 · 11 Songs. Though she began her recording career in the early ‘60s, this is just the second full-length release by Vashti Bunyan. Her debut single, released on Decca in 1965, was Some Things Just Stick in Your Mind, written by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards. Despite this light output and her self-imposed obscurity - she left the music business entirely for over 30 years - she has attained a near-mythic status among British folk purists for her unique sound and list of credentials

Didn't want to be the one The one who's left behind While the other one goes out to life And comes back home to find Me sitting pretty happily Surrounded by a house With cups in all their saucers And not a bit of dust.

Lookaftering is the second studio album by Vashti Bunyan. It was released via FatCat Records on October 17, 2005.

Where Just Another Diamond Day concentrated on living an idyllic life as a part of nature and creation itself, Lookaftering is a tale of doing just that, looking after children, lovers, friends, surroundings, and the changes in life like living and dying. Her melodies are delicate, inviting, and delicate without the least bit of twee posturing.

Vashti is an English artist who, after the poor sales of her debut album Just Another Diamond Day, gave up her musical career for a long period of time. The name Vashti Bunyan is not a name that comes to mind for many when they typically think of great folk artists, and for a valid reason; with the release of only one album (that initially was not at all popular), one could hardly be considered a member of the prominent folk scene.

Lookaftering is a music studio album recording by VASHTI BUNYAN (Prog Folk/Progressive Rock) released in 2004 on cd, lp, vinyl and/or cassette. The album closes with a lovely intimate moment, a recording of Vashti rehearsing "Wayward" while just humming, unaware they were recording her. It's the perfect closer to this collection and brings us full circle, sounding almost like an outtake of "Diamond Da. The simple drawings and photographs in the booklet are also fantastic, so much more meaningful to me than most of the homogeneous "prog-rock art" that all looks the same on so many new releases.
